Hyderabad: Bharat Biotech on Thursday denounced the use of paracetamol or other pain killers after administering `Covaxin'.

The announcement came after the company received feedback that certain immunization centers are recommending children to take paracetamol 500 mg tablets three times after administering Covaxin.

In response to this, Bharat Biotech explained that in its clinical trials panning 30,000 individuals, approximately 10-20% of individuals report side effects.

"Most of these are mild, resolve within 1-2 days, and do not require medication. Medication is only recommended after you consult a physician," the vaccine maker said.

Bharat Biotech confirmed that Paracetamol has been recommended with other Covid-19 vaccines but not Covaxin.

The vaccination for 15 plus children began on January 3, 2022, throughout the country.
