Hyderabad: Hyderabad is set to become the hub for advanced cancer treatment in South-East Asia with the installation of the ProteusONE Proton Therapy System.

The cutting-edge technology, developed by Belgium-based IBA, includes DynamicARC proton therapy, a precision-based radiation treatment that minimizes damage to healthy tissues.

The system will be the first of its kind in South-East Asia and one of only three Proton Therapy Centres in India.

Focus on Advanced Cancer Care

This method is particularly beneficial for children and adults with tumors in sensitive areas, providing a safer and more targeted treatment option.

New Oncology Centre at Gachibowli Campus

The ProteusONE Proton Therapy System will be housed in a new 300-bedded dedicated Oncology Centre, which is under construction at the Gachibowli campus.

Announcing the investment, Dr. D Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman of AIG Hospitals, said, ā€œThe acquisition of the Proton Beam Therapy System and the strategic partnership with IBA represent a transformative step forward in our mission to provide cutting-edge, compassionate care.ā€

He emphasized, ā€œThe ProteusONE Proton Therapy System will be part of our new Oncology Centre, enabling comprehensive cancer care comparable to the best in the world.ā€

Investment of INR 800 Crores

The upcoming Oncology Centre represents an investment of INR 800 crores. Once operational, it will be the first Proton Therapy Centre in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Highlighting the significance of this development, Mr. PVS Raju, Vice Chairman of AIG Hospitals, stated, ā€œThe acquisition of Proton Beam Therapy technology aligns perfectly with our vision of providing world-class cancer care within India.ā€

He further noted, ā€œThis cutting-edge treatment option will enhance the hospitalā€™s comprehensive suite of cancer care services, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, supportive care, clinical research, and training.ā€

With the introduction of Proton Beam Therapy, patients will have access to treatment options previously unavailable in the Telugu states, setting new standards for oncology care in the region.
