'Trichobezoar': How doctors removed one-kilo hair from 14YO girl's stomach in Guntur
The 14-year-old has been found eating hair for the last ten years.

Guntur: Doctors have removed one kilogram of hair from the stomach of a 14-year-old girl at Sri Ram Nursing Home in Gudivada of Krishna district.
The rare surgery is performed after the girl suffered from a rare medical condition 'trichobezoar', which is an accumulation of hair casts in the stomach associated with trichophagia.
"Usually a few girls below 20 years of age have the habit of eating hair especially if they are anemic. It is either eating their hair or hair found anywhere. In rare conditions, the hair forms in the shape of the stomach. This was similar to trichobezoar. She was having repeated bouts of vomiting. Plus she had a low appetite, weight loss, and stomach pain,” Dr. Potluri Vamsi, who led the team of surgeons, said.
The 14-year-old has been found eating hair for the last ten years. She was brought to the hospital a week ago when the doctors observed her eating her hair. When they have done endoscopy scan, hair was found inside
Post-surgery, the girl's condition is stable.
