Hyderabad: Telangana reported 493 new Covid-19 cases on 24 June. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) reported the highest number of cases (366) in the last 24 hours followed by Rangareddy (40) and Medchal Malkajgiri (34).
Meanwhile, other districts in the state either reported single-digit or no cases.
The positivity rate on 24 June was 1.6%.
On 21 June, the Telangana director of public health and family welfare issued an advisory in view of the rising Covid-19 cases in the state. On the day the advisory was released, the state had reported 403 cases. The number of cases has increased by 100 since then.
The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 3,322 while the total number of cases reported so far stands at 7,98,125.
A total of 219 people recovered from coronavirus in the state in the last 24 hours constituting a recovery rate of 99.07%. Also, 29,084 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The results of 410 swab samples are awaited.
On Friday, AP MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna reportedly got re-infected with Covid-19 and tested positive.
Dr. Prabhu Kumar C., the president of IMA Banjara Hills, said while Covid-19 cases are increasing, the fever is mild. "Patients are recovering in two days. It is not a cause for worry as it is like viral flu," he said.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh reported 406 cases on Friday.
