Hyderabad: A sarpanch’s husband, her son and their driver from Yadadri Bhongir district of Telangana drowned in a lake along with their car. The car and the bodies were traced in the lake on Saturday.

According to sources, Seerinigudem sarpanch Rani’s husband Madhu, son Manikanta and their driver Sridhar had gone to a neighboring village on some work and were to return by evening. However, when they did come home by late night, she tried calling them over phone and found the mobiles were switched-off.

She immediately lodged a complaint with Ramannapet police, who registered a missing case and deputed search teams.

Meanwhile, Saturday morning police teams along with villagers while searching on the village outskirts found the car drowned in the lake. As the car was not visible from the surface, it was not noticed till Saturday. Later the car was pulled out and they saw the three bodies inside.

Police suspect the car had accidentally plunged into the lake, after the driver lost control. Police are probing all angles to know the exact cause.
