Seven-year-old boy throttled to death, mother detained

Hyderabad: A seven-year-old boy was found dead under suspicious circumstances at Mailardevpally in the city on Monday. Police suspect that the boy, identified as Mohammed Amjad, was killed by his mother Sultana Begum, as she had reportedly found that he was creating trouble for her relationship with another man. She married Amjad's father Mohammed Hazee for more than eight years back. The family was residing at Saibaba nagar in Katedan under the police limits of Mailardevpally.

Sultana was allegedly having a relationship with a man and the presence of her son disturbed her partner. In order to remove this obstacle, she allegedly throttled the child and killed him. On Monday as she raised an alarm stating that her son was found dead at home, the incident came to light.

Neighbours sensed foul-play and alerted the police. Mailardevpally police registered a case and shifted the body for post-mortem. Sultana Begum has been detained for questioning.
