In the show-cause notice, Nilam Sawhney mentioned that it was observed that certain comments made by the senior IPS officer Pratap Reddy (a member of the service) were in clear violation of the All India Services (conduct) Rules, 1968. No member of the service shall, in any communication (press/media) shall make any statement that has the effect of an adverse criticism of the action of the state government.
The AP government has sought an explanation from Reddy to explain the reasons as to why disciplinary action should not be initiated against him for the remarks within seven days. By that time, the IPS officer was asked to report to the General Administration Department.
The AP government has recently transferred senior IPS officer Madireddy Pratap. Madireddy who was RTC MD was transferred as APSP Battalion Additional DGP and orders were issued to that effect.
The senior IPS officer Pratap said he had worked as the IT secretary during the tenure of former CM late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and never ever resorted to any irregularity which showed his integrity. He asserted that he would leave the decision of his transfer to government's wisdom.
