Sobhita Dhulipala lands role in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan

Hyderabad: Actress Sobhita Dhulipala has a dedicated fan following across the country due to her brilliant, simple yet effective performances in films and web series. The actress rose to fame with her Telugu film Goodachari, starring Adivi Sesh. The film’s success and her exceptional performance earned her laurels and also catapulted her to fame. Later, she also played pivotal roles in several web series that explored her acting prowess.

Now, Sobhita is all set to make her Tamil debut. She has got an opportunity to make her Tamil debut in Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film Ponniyin Selvan. She took to Instagram to share the first-look posters of Ponniyin Selvan and confirmed that she was part of the epic period film, which has an ensemble cast.

Reports are rife that Sobhita will essay the role of a princess who is well-versed in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. Since Sobhita is a professional Bharatanatyam dancer, this will be a tailor-made role for her. If sources are to be believed, the actress is undergoing Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi lessons to portray the role with utmost perfection.

It is said that the actress has already joined the Ponniyin Selvan team in Hyderabad for the film’s shooting. Recently, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, and Riyaz Khan, who are part of the cast, were spotted at Hyderabad airport. It is said that Trisha will join the team in the coming days.

Ponniyin Selvan is based on the famous literary novel of the same name, written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy. The film, which is jointly produced by Mani Ratnam and Lyca Productions, stars Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Karthik, and Sarathkumar.
