Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) inaugurated its new administrative office at Visakhapatnam's Dr. YSR ACA-VDCA international cricket stadium on 10 December.
The association felicitated three former Ranji Trophy players and an umpire on the occasion. The ACA president, P. Sarat Chandra Reddy, also presented a cheque of Rs. 5 lakhs to P. Vijay Kumar, the former Ranji player, on the eve of his retirement.
Mr. Reddy said it was very apt for the ACA to have its administrative office at the Visakhapatnam stadium. Efforts are underway to shift the office from its current location in Vijayawada to Vizag. All administrative activities of ACA will be conducted from the new 5,000 sq. ft. office from now, he said.
He added that the ACA is aiming to upgrade every district to have its own well-equipped grounds. All facilities will be provided for the players to improve their game, Mr. Reddy said, adding that focus was on developing cricket nets being used by the players even at mandal-levels. The ACA is also planning league matches in various rural areas of all districts to tap into the rural talent as part of its various programmes.
The ACA, with its new team of apex council, is planning to incorporate a good system of operations in administration and also its many activities, he added.
