Hyderabad: Life has come full circle for Maram Harishankar Reddy who has been selected for the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Reddy has been picked up by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for Rs 20 lakh in the IPL auction held on Thursday.

Coming from a humble background, Reddy's parents are farmers at Rayachoti in Kadapa district while his elder brother is working in Kuwait.

He represented under-19 state team. Because of his good bowling prowess, he was later selected for the Ranji team. He has been playing for the Andhra team since 2018.

Reddy's father Ramachandra Reddy and mother Lakshmidevi said their son has been playing cricket since his childhood. "We are very happy that our son has been selected for the IPL," they said.

Chief Whip Gadikota Srikanth said Reddy wants to prove his mettle at the international level. "He is from a remote area and many are happy that he has been selected for the IPL. He aspires to play for the Indian team," he said.

Uncapped Tamil Nadu finisher Shahrukh Khan, who recently won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, also landed a giant payday thanks to the Kings, who signed him for INR 5.25 crore, more than 51 times his base price of Rs 20 lakh. all-rounder Shahrukh Khan bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 5.25 crore.

Also, uncapped Arjun Tendulkar, son of Sachin Tendulkar, the final player in the auction list, sold to Mumbai Indians at his base price of Rs 20 lakh.
