Stressed out SSC student commits suicide ahead of exam in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Seemingly unable to handle pressure, an SSC student allegedly committed suicide five days before her final examination at Sardar Patel Nagar in Kukatpally.

Meher Gayatri Devi, a student of Blooming Dales High School, allegedly committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan at her home on Friday night.

14-year-old Meher was the only daughter of Kavuru Srinivas, who works as a techie in the city. On Friday, after returning home she locked herself in a room. Her mother thought she was stressed out because of her examination. Around 8 pm, when Srinivas returned home and enquired about Meher, his wife told him that she is changing her clothes.

But when she did not turn up for a long time, her mother went to her room only to find it bolted from inside. They opened the door using the central lock key and were shocked to see their daughter hanging from the ceiling fan. She was immediately rushed to Sri Sri Hospital at KPHB where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

KPHB police officials arrived at the hospital and shifted the body for postmortem.

Police officials said that the girl could have been under stress or there could have been some other reasons which forced her to take this step. Police said they are looking into all angles.
