Struggling with debt, IBM staffer and family commit suicide in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A debt-ridden IBM staffer and his family committed suicide by consuming pesticide at LB Nagar in Hyderabad on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as 33-year-old Pradeep, who was working as a software professional at IBM, his 29-year-old wife Swati and their children Kalyan, 5 and Jayakrishna, 18 months.

Hailing from Devarakonda area of Nalgonda district in Telangana, Pradeep had migrated to the city to earn a livelihood. They were residing in their ancestral house at Hasthinapuram in LB Nagar.

Preliminary investigation reveals that Pradeep was struggling with debts and going through a financial crisis. Sources said Pradeep had invested in some business, but he incurred huge losses. Unable to overcome the financial crisis, he and his family consumed pesticide and ended their lives.

On Monday morning, when a neighbour visited their home, he found them in an unconscious condition. He immediately informed the police.

LB Nagar police teams along with clues team and dog squad rushed to the spot and found empty pesticide bottles. Police are looking into all angles. A case of suspicious death has been registered at LB Nagar police station.
