Taapsee Pannu confirms playing the cricketer Mithali Raj in 'Shabaash Mithu'

On Mithali Raj’s birthday, Taapsee Pannu officially announced that she would be doing the biopic on the Indian cricketer — titled 'Shabaash Mithu'. Taapsee met Mithali on the latter’s birthday, and the actress shared pictures of the duo cutting a cake. Taapsee mentioned that she wants to learn cover drive from Mithali.

Rahul Dholakia directs Shabaash Mithu and Viacom18 Studios will bankroll it. The project will be another biopic for Taapsee after Saand Ki Aankh and Soorma. Besides, the actress is also preparing for Rocket Rashmi, a biopic on athlete Rashmi. Taapsee had revealed in many interviews that she would love to do a biopic on a sports star.

Earlier in August, when reports of her doing Mithali’s biopic had surfaced, Taapsee had said that it is too early for her to confirm anything, as the movies’ script was not in place. However, later, she shared photos of Mithali Raj’s autograph and a cricket ball, hinting at the project.
