Take care of migrant laborers, KTR directs infra companies

Hyderabad: Waking up to the plight of migrant laborers, Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao has asked all the construction and infra companies to provide food, basic amenities, and healthcare facilities to the workforce during the lockdown period.
KT Rama Rao passed the directive after meeting the representatives of Construction and Builders' Association here today. The minister was reviewing the conditions of migrant laborers in Hyderabad.
The migrant laborers are being shifted to temporary shelter homes by the corporation. The state government will monitor the situation in the camps.
Around 40-50 daily wagers, who were without any basic needs were spotted by the authorities near Kondapur today. They were moved to a shelter home by the west zone commissioner.
āFood, basic amenities, and healthcare needs should be made available,ā said KTR.
The Minister asked the representatives to ensure proper sanitation and watch out for any COVID19 symptoms among the laborers. The Minister assured that the GHMC teams and doctors from Basthi Dawakhaanas will be available for assistance. A multi-departmental team will be in place to assist the construction industry.
Meanwhile, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Telangana stood at 44 on Thursday. The total number of locally transmitted cases stands at 9. The patients are kept in isolation wards in Gandhi and Ronald Rose Fever Hospital. It is to be noted that a patient has been discharged after he recovered.
A doctor couple from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limit of Hyderabad was tested positive for coronavirus today. The couple is among the three new cases reported on Thursday.
