TDP leader Adinarayana Reddy to join BJP

Kadapa: Chadipiralla Adinarayana Reddy, a senior TDP leader and the former minister, will be joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Speaking with the media here on Saturday, Mr Reddy said: “I am a patriotic person and like to join hands with BJP only. And this is for development of the Kadapa district.

Mr Reddy criticised the TDP high command on the selection of candidates during the last general elections.

“I lost in the Parliament election owing to the improper selection of aspirants by the TDP. I don’t know who’s coming along with me to join BJP. However, I have decided to join BJP, and this is my own decision.”

Mr Reddy, as sources say, will be meeting his followers and supporters in the constituency soon. After this meeting, Mr Reddy will decide on when to join the saffron party.

Mr Adinarayana Reddy is a lecturer-turned politician. He began his political career in 1994 and contested in Jammalamadugu Assembly constituency on Congress ticket. But, he lost to P Ramasubbareddy of TDP. He couldn’t win in 1999 elections and lost to Ramasubba Reddy for the second time.

In 2004 and 2009 elections, Mr Reddy won as MLA on Congress ticket and in 2014 on YSRCP ticket. However, he later joined TDP and got Cabinet berth.

In 2019 elections, he contested in Kadapa Lok Sabha as TDP candidate and lost to YSRCP candidate Avinash Reddy. While he was in TDP, Mr Reddy used to criticise the YSRCP leaders. Since the YSRCP assumed the power in Andhra Pradesh, Mr Reddy has decided to join the BJP.
