TDP submits representation to President on 'failing democracy' in AP
By Newsmeter Network Published on 16 July 2020 4:51 PM ISTAmaravati: The TDP leaders met President of India Ram Nath Kovind and took to his notice the systematic destruction of democratic and Constitutional institutions in the state by the YSR Congress party, which amount to infringement of the Fundamental Rights of the citizens in its 14-month rule.
Submitting a detailed representation, along with the evidence of various democratic and Constitutional violations by the YCP-led government to the President, the TDP said that the YCP was ignoring a fundamental dictum in a democracy, that governments may change but governance is a continuous process.
They apprised the President of everything from demolishing the Praja Vedika (People's Forum) auditorium in June 2019, to inject a sense of fear in government officials, forcing Vice-chancellors of state Universities to resign, unleashing terror and filing concocted cases against the Dalit community in Guntur district thus making them refugees in their own state, killing supporters of the Opposition parties, slapping cases against the farmers who are peacefully protesting in Amaravati, threatening their own party members, issuing unofficial orders to ban news channels, illegally mining and transporting sand, acquiring housing sites in violation of the law, 108 ambulance, and other scams, thus, how the YCP government was ruining everything in the state.
The TDP has sought the President's urgent intervention to uphold the democratic values and Rule of Law in AP and thanked him for sparing his time. The President gave assurance to the TDP leaders that he would examine the representation and take appropriate action.
