Davos: Google to drive the green technology initiative with the tech giant to support climate, agriculture and urban development goals.
In a meeting at the World Economic Forum, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met with Google’s APAC president, Sanjay Gupta, to map out a collaboration on Artificial Intelligence and sustainable growth.
Google’s commitment across growth sectors
Google’s APAC President Sanjay Gupta affirmed that the organisation is ‘happy to fully support’ Telangana across several critical sectors.
Key areas of engagement include:
1. Agriculture and Climate: Solving soil health issues and reducing fertiliser overuse through farmer education and data-driven preventive steps.
2. Urban Solutions: Implementing AI-driven traffic control systems to decongest Hyderabad.
3. Security: Strengthening the state’s cybersecurity infrastructure.
4. Startup Innovation: Building on the success of the recently launched Google for Startups Hub in Hyderabad—the first of its kind in India—which provides AI-first startups with mentorship and resources.
Investing in skills and education
Minister D Sridhar Babu highlighted the state’s aggressive push into human capital, citing the Young India Skills University and partnerships with educational leaders like Khan Academy and Physicswallah to integrate AI into the state curriculum.
The delegation also showcased infrastructure milestones, including the T-Fibre project for state-wide high-speed internet and the initiative to provide free power to government schools, ensuring the next generation is ‘AI-ready.’
With Google’s technological backing and a clear regional strategy, Telangana is positioning itself as a global player, the government said in a statement.
