Hyderabad: Telangana is poised to become the ‘Aerospace Capital of India’.

The Revanth Reddy government is unveiling plans to boost exports, expand clusters, and foster innovation to promote Telangana as the ‘Aerospace Capital of India’.

IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu announced the vision while addressing a brainstorming session with aerospace entrepreneurs and experts at the Dr BR. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat here.

The session was organised in collaboration with the FICCI Telangana Aerospace and Defence Committee.

Strong Foundation, Global Presence

Highlighting Telangana’s legacy, the Minister said the State laid the foundation for its aerospace ecosystem six decades ago.

“Hyderabad today hosts over 30 aerospace and defence OEMs and more than 1,000 MSMEs. Global majors like DRDO, HAL, GMR, Tata, Adani-Elbit, Safran, and Boeing–TASL JV operate from here. Our aerospace exports have already crossed ₹28,000 crore,” he noted.

Expansion Plans in Aerospace & Defence

To build on this momentum, the government is preparing plans for the Phase-2 Aerospace and Defence Cluster of international standards, modeled on the Adibatla Aerospace SEZ.

A dedicated Aerospace MSME Park is also on the cards. Telangana further aims to establish Hyderabad as a Green Aviation Hub, supporting drone technology and green aviation fuels.

Industry–Government Collaboration

Sridhar Babu announced the setting up of a special task force comprising officials, industry leaders, and experts to fast-track approvals and resolve industrial bottlenecks.

He also urged industry partners to help tackle the skilled manpower gap by adopting ITIs and Polytechnic Colleges.

“With your support, we can transform Telangana’s youth into globally competitive professionals in design, avionics, composites, and digital twin technologies,” the Minister said.

The session was attended by Nikhil Chakravarthy (Director, Industries Department), Dr. Radhakrishna (Director, HC Robotics Pvt. Ltd.), Rajeev Julakanti (Head, FICCI Telangana State Council), Jayadev Meela (Co-Chairman, FICCI Telangana Aerospace & Defence Committee), along with senior representatives from leading aerospace firms.
