Amaravati: Google is set to establish its largest data center outside the United States in Madhurawada, Visakhapatnam.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu stated that Google will establish the centre in October.

Besides, Google. HCL, TCS, and Adani Data Centre are also setting up their units in the city. ArcelorMittal’s steel plant is also coming up in the city.

This development is expected to transform Visakhapatnam into a prominent IT destination, potentially rivaling Hyderabad in the coming years.

The facility will serve as the anchor project of the proposed `Data City’, a 500-acre technology cluster being developed by the Andhra Pradesh government to transform Vizag into a global hub for IT and artificial intelligence.

As part of the project, Google has acquired 80 acres near the site and signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state government to lead the initiative.

The Vizag data center will mark Google’s biggest infrastructure investment in India, with an estimated outlay of up to USD 4 billion. Once operational, it will also stand as Asia’s largest Google data center after Taiwan and Singapore.

Strategically located in Madhurawada—close to Anandapuram and Bheemili—the campus will be seamlessly linked to the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport, ensuring strong global connectivity.

Collectors Conference:

During the Collectors’ Conference on industries and infrastructure, the Chief Minister said both Uttarandhra and Rayalaseema regions have been competing in development. Highlighting Rayalaseema’s progress, he said that industrial growth is being driven by projects such as the Kadapa Steel Plant, Kopparthi, and Orvakallu. “In the coming days, the stretch from Lepakshi in Anantapur to Orvakallu in Kurnool will emerge as a major industrial hub,” he added.

Naidu emphasized the importance of strengthening the road network connecting ports and airports through the Logistics Corporation. He further directed that a port, shipbuilding center, or fishing harbor be developed every 50 km along the coastline.

“With the construction of new airports, the surrounding areas will evolve into vibrant economic hubs,” the Chief Minister said.
