Hyderabad: LetsVote, an apolitical non-profit civil society organisation, has launched a Digital Democracy Votathon to engage, connect and contribute towards building awareness among citizens about their right to vote.

As part of this initiative, LetsVote has launched multiple digital and offline avenues to engage with voters and emphasize the power of voting. While a walkathon on November 25 is one of LetsVote’s major events for the upcoming polling date across Telangana on November 30, key highlights include a Digital Democracy Votathon App and Storybox.

Digital Democracy Votathon App

The Votathon app is designed to encourage citizen participation in democracy, allowing them to propagate the importance of voting. Any citizen can download the Lifecykul application and go to the Votathon section to participate. After downloading the app, they start using it by walking or cycling as a means to meet and educate others along the way about the importance of voting. At the end of each session, the user will know exactly how many kilometres they have covered in their journey of educating the public.

LetsVote along with HYSEA and with the assistance of the Lifecykul app launched and commenced Digital Democracy Votathon on Friday. More than 500 engineers travelled 4 km to educate the public on voting. Dr K Subbarangaiah, national convener of Let's Vote, Krishna Prasad Pinapala, the CEO of SoCtronics and the Chief of Staff of INVECAS along with their engineers walked the streets of Nanakramguda discussing the elections with the people they met along the way.

StoryBox

Another initiative created for the elections by LetsVote is StoryBox. The project involves a social entrepreneur’s team reaching out to young school students by placing innovative dispensers of reading content on voting. LetsVote said that it believes the children of today are the citizens of tomorrow. Further, children can motivate grown-ups to exercise their right to vote through StoryBox.

LetsVote has enabled valuable election process-related content that will educate the electoral processes among students and their families through these StoryBoxes placed at 25 schools. Their target is to reach 40 schools.

LetsVote said that they are working with the different school managements to increase awareness, said the team. Any interested school can reach out to the LetsVote team or StoryBox team to install the StoryBox at their schools.

Walkathon

Apart from the Votathon app and StoryBox, LetsVote is organising a walkathon in partnership with the chief electoral office of Telangana, The walkathon will be organised on November 25 and chief electoral officer Vikas Raj will flag off the walk at 6:30 am at Gachibowli Stadium.
