Modi virtually opens convention centre in Puttaparthi, lauds India’s progress in tech, spirituality

Puttaparthi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India is marching ahead in various fields, including technology and economy even as spiritual centres are reviving in the country.

On Tuesday, Narendra Modi inaugurated the Sai Hira Global Convention Centre in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh through video conferencing. Other guests at the ceremony included prominent dignitaries and devotees from around the world.

Addressing the gathering, the prime minister congratulated everyone on the event and expressed confidence that the new centre will create an experience of spirituality and splendour of modernity. He said that the centre comprises cultural diversity and a conceptual grandeur, and it will become a focal point for discussions on spirituality and academic programs where scholars and experts will come together.

The prime minister underlined that India has now become one of the top five economies in the world and supports the third-largest startup ecosystem. “India is competing with developed countries in digital automation and 5G technology,” he added.

“Although I came to Puttaparthi many times, I couldn’t make it this time. Next time when I am invited I will come to take blessings rather than to give blessings, he said.

About the convention centre

Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust has built Sai Hira Global Convention Centre at Prasanthi Nilayam in Puttaparthi, funded by philanthropist Ryuko Hira, demonstrating the vision of cultural and spiritual exchange in this modern era. The new facility will host conferences, seminars and cultural events, including encouraging dialogue and understanding between individuals from all walks of life.

It is equipped with meditation halls, serene gardens and pleasant accommodations.
