Telangana to emulate Estonia’s fully digital health system to enhance e-governance
Hyderabad: Telangana is set to collaborate with Estonia, a global leader in digital governance and healthcare digitisation, to bolster its e-governance initiatives and digital public service delivery.
This announcement was made by State IT and Industries minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu following a meeting with Estonia’s Ambassador to India, Marje Luup, and a high-level trade delegation at the Secretariat on Friday.
‘Estonia has 100 per cent digitisation of health records’
Sridhar Babu lauded Estonia’s achievement of 100 per cent digitisation of health records and its advanced digital infrastructure, expressing Telangana’s intent to leverage Estonia’s extensive experience and technical expertise.
“Estonia’s success in e-governance and digital health is truly inspiring,” Sridhar Babu stated. “Telangana, which is still in the early stages of health data digitisation, aims to partner with Estonia to accelerate progress in this domain.”
The Estonian delegation included experts and representatives from key sectors such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, and Healthcare. Discussions during the meeting focused on mutual interests and potential areas for collaboration, particularly in public service reforms and emerging technologies.
E governance
“E-governance plays a vital role in delivering transparent and efficient public services. Estonia’s collaboration can be instrumental in enhancing our systems,” minister Sridhar Babu emphasised. He also highlighted the increasing importance of cybersecurity, noting, “As we digitise services, safeguarding them becomes equally critical. Cybersecurity is an area where mutual cooperation with Estonia is essential.”
The minister also touched upon Telangana’s technological advancements, specifically mentioning the State’s significant growth in drone development. He observed that “Drones manufactured in Hyderabad have demonstrated their strategic value recently in conflicts, including in operations involving Pakistan. Future conflicts will be defined by drone warfare and cyberattacks.”
Responding positively to Ambassador Luup’s invitation, Minister Sridhar Babu confirmed that a delegation of senior officials from Telangana will visit Estonia in September.
“Our team will engage in detailed discussions on collaboration in education, e-governance, AI, and robotics,” he affirmed.
