WEF 2026: Sridhar Babu showcases ‘Telangana Rising’ vision to global business leaders
Davos: At the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026, Minister for Information Technology and Industries, D Sridhar Babu, pitched to the global business leaders to join the state’s ambitious ‘Telangana Rising’ journey.
Inaugurating the India Pavilion on Tuesday, the Minister showcased Telangana as India’s premier investment destination, unveiling a roadmap that aims to transform the state into a $3-trillion economy by 2047.
Building the future today
Minister Sridhar Babu outlined a vision that seeks to expand Telangana’s footprint on the national stage:
1. The 10% Goal: While Telangana currently contributes roughly 5 per cent to India’s GDP, the government aims to double this contribution to 10 per cent by 2047.
2. Proactive Governance: “We are not waiting for the future; we are building it,” Sridhar Babu told the gathering of global CEOs, emphasising that the state is shifting from policy intent to large-scale execution.
3. Growth Zones: The state’s strategy is built around the CURE, PURE, RARE model—focusing on Core Urban, Peri-Urban and Rural Agricultural economies to ensure all-round development.

Major launches: AI and Life Sciences
The Davos platform was used to signal Telangana’s dominance in next-generation technology and healthcare. The Minister announced the formal unveiling of two flagship initiatives:
- Life Sciences Policy 2.0: A strategic framework aiming to build a $250 billion life sciences economy and position Hyderabad among the world’s top three life sciences clusters by 2030.
- Telangana AI Innovation Hub (TAIH): Designed as the world’s first ‘Global AI Proving Ground,’ TAIH will serve as a unified engine for AI research, talent and commercial deployment.
‘A track record of success’
Addressing concerns of investment viability, the Minister highlighted the state’s recent momentum in investments.
Over the last two years, Telangana has successfully mobilised approximately Rs 2.5 lakh crore in investments, the minister said.
“We are here to offer collaboration, not just ask for investments. From semiconductors and aerospace to green energy and food processing, Telangana provides a world-class ecosystem supported by ‘Ease of Doing Business’ benchmarks that are a role model for the nation,” the Minister added.
Prestige engagements
The ‘Telangana Rising’ team, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, is scheduled to hold high-level meetings this week with leadership from global giants including Google, Salesforce, Novartis, L’Oreal and the Tata Group. The delegation is focusing on securing fresh commitments in Deep Tech, Green Pharma and high-value manufacturing to fuel the state’s record GSDP growth, which stood at 10.1 per cent in the last fiscal year.
