Whats up in WhatsApp: You can now add up to 512 participants in a group

Hyderabad: Popular messaging platform WhatsApp has now rolled out a new update for its users. Admins of WhatsApp groups can now add up to 512 people in their groups. The new feature was announced in May 2022 and was given to select users. Currently, one can add up to 256 participants in a group.

The new update will be available to Android and iOS beta testers. Beta testing is a type of user acceptance testing where the product team gives a nearly-finished product to a group of target users to evaluate product performance in the real world.

Users can also try updating their current version and use the new feature.

Terming it as one of the top requests from its users, WhatsApp, in an official announcement last month, said, "One of the top requests we've consistently received is the option to add more people to a chat, so now we're slowly rolling out the ability to add up to 512 people to a group."

Earlier, in May 2022, WhatsApp announced that users can now send up to 2GB size files through WhatsApp. The earlier limit on files was 100MB.

WhatsApp has also rolled out emoji reactions. Initially, users will get only six emoji reactions ā€“ like, love, laugh, surprise, sad, and thanks.
