Hyderabad: As part of the launch of Pradhan Mantri Mahila Kisan Drone Kendras, the Central government has allocated Rs 1,261 crores to provide drones to 15,000 women-led Self-help Groups (SHGs). The overall objective of the initiative is to foster the adoption of drone technology in agriculture.

The project was helmed by the Centre in association with the technology from Marut Drones, said to be India’s premier drone manufacturer.

“Women empowerment, especially in rural areas, is part of the value system of Marut Drones. We have been actively engaged in delivering drone training, not only to provide certificates but to ensure that employability and financial liberty are achieved for Indian rural women,” said Prem Kumar Vislawath, CEO, and founder of Marut Drones, sharing his insights on the intersection of technology and women’s empowerment.

Marut Drones has already made substantial strides in empowering over 100 women from SHGs across various states.

The drone training programs are tailored to be user-friendly for women in diverse linguistic communities, including Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil.

Prem Kumar Vislawath highlighted the company’s dedication to aligning with prime minister Narendra Modi’s vision of women-led development. With the launch of Pradhan Mantri Mahila Kisan Drone Kendra for Women SHGs, Marut Drones aims to contribute to making agriculture profitable for Indian farmers.

“Our mission is to empower women farmers, encouraging them to embrace drone technology as a means to enhance their livelihood. Recognising potential challenges in drone procurement, repair, and maintenance for SHGs, Marut Drones has already simplified the process,” Vislawath said.

The CEO and founder emphasised their alignment with the cause and commitment to contributing to making 15,000 SHGs empowered.

The Pradhan Mantri Mahila Kisan Drone Kendras are set to bring about positive transformations, aligning with the larger vision of making agriculture more profitable and sustainable for Indian farmers.
