- '45 people tested for Coronavirus at Gandhi Hospital: Health Minister'
Hyderabad: Addressing the media on the current situation of the patient admitted in Gandhi Hospital’s isolation ward, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Telangana, Eatala Rajender said that 45 people who have been in contact with the patient have been sent to Gandhi Hospital.
"A total of 45 people have been brought to Gandhi Hospital for confirmatory tests and their reports are awaited. Isolation wards have been provided in Gandhi Hospital, Army Hospital, Chest Hospital and Vikarabad."
The minister went on to say that a total of 85 people who were in contact with him have been identified. He stated that the Telangana government had alloted Rs. 100 crores for coronavirus preventive measures in the state.
He also assured the people of Telangana not to panic and suggested several precautions. "Washing hands every now and then can prevent Coronavirus. Once an individual is affected with Coronavirus, they can know it within 15 days. It is not proved that Coronavirus spreads through air when someone sneezes or coughs. If an individual continuously keeps sneezing, it doesn't mean one has been affected with Coronavirus. The virus spreads when the temperature is less humid and humidity is more."
The minister said that a total of 3,000 beds including in private medical colleges have been arranged for treatment of the patients.
"I also request people to not shake hands with each other for the next few days. Whenever one goes to a crowded place, please use hand gloves and face masks. I also request all the private hospitals in the state to not take up treatment of people affected with Coronavirus without the knowledge of the government," he said.
