Hyderabad: Bad weather conditions forced the Telangana government on Thursday to cancel the meeting schedule of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at Huzurnagar. The TRS supremo was supposed to address a public meeting this afternoon at Huzurnagar, which is going for a by-election on October 21. Since the TRS party has two days left for the by-election as October 20 would be a silent day, the next meeting of KCR at Huzurnagar is doubtful, observes a senior official.

Telangana minister Jagadish Reddy and Palla Rajeshwar Reddy — TRS MLC and in-charge for Huzurnagar by-poll — announced the cancellation of the meeting. The CM’s tour has been cancelled owing to adverse weather conditions, they said.

“The Aviation Department didn’t give permission. It advised to cancel CM’s visit to Huzurnagar by helicopter,” announced Jagadish Reddy and Rajeshwar Reddy from the dais at the Huzurnagar public meeting place.

VN Bharat Reddy, Director (Aviation), said, “The weather is bad at Huzurnagar because of cloud burst, stormy weather, and strong wind build up en route from Hyderabad to Huzurnagar. These conditions reduce in-flight visibility and cause low clouds, thunder, lightning, strong vertical currents, heavy rain, and strong gusty winds which are detrimental to flight safety. These weather conditions are seen en route from Hyderabad to Huzurnagar and over Huzurnagar and its adjoining areas. Considering the safety of the CM and other passengers on board the helicopter, I request the CM to call off the programme.”

Devarakonda MLA Ravindra Naik added that TRS cadres and the local public were disappointed as the CM’s tour was cancelled. “However, the spirit is jubilant among party cadres. Local farmers and tribals are supporting TRS. Farmers have been supporting the party as the TRS government provides 24-hour power supply. Telangana people are happy with several welfare schemes. TRS candidate in the Assembly election, Saidi Reddy, is fortunate as his victory by a huge margin is certain.”
