Telangana colleges to commence online classes, admissions from 1 Sept

Hyderabad: The Telangana higher education department, on 25 August, announced the commencement of online classes and admissions from 1 September in all colleges. The dates for undergraduate and postgraduate exams will be decided based on the Supreme Court's judgment, it said.

Also, the department has decided to conduct all Common Entrance Tests (CETs) and the commissioner of collegiate education has been directed to coordinate with the Telangana state council of higher education to conduct the exams.

The state government has also permitted intermediate, degree, PG, and professional colleges to conduct online classes on various digital platforms for second-year students from 1 September. The higher education department has instructed all lecturers to attend their respective colleges regularly from 27 August and prepare e-content and lesson plans. All colleges shall remain closed for students until further orders from the Centre.

The TS higher education department has also instructed colleges to start DOST admissions for UG programs and the commissioner of collegiate education has been asked to take necessary action for the same.

The department has instructed the commissioners of intermediate, collegiate, and technical education, the Telangana state council of higher education, the board of intermediate education, registrars of all universities, and the registrar of Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences to issue detailed operational guidelines in this regard.

Schools, colleges, and other educational institutions were instructed to remain closed till 31 August due to the extension of the lockdown in containment zones to contain the spread of COVID-19.
