Telangana COVID-19 death toll crosses 800 mark, 2,751 fresh COVID cases
By Newsmeter Network Published on 29 Aug 2020 3:27 AM GMTHyderabad: Telangana crosses 800 death tally on Friday. Nine new deaths are reported on August 28. The fatality rate in the state is 0.67 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.81 per cent.
Telangana reported 2,751 new COVID cases on Friday taking the overall tally to 1,20,166 in the state.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 432 new cases while Karimnagar reported 192 new cases. Districts of Telangana is seeing the increase in cases. Rangareddy reported 185 new cases while Khammam reported 132 cases.
Around 1,675 citizens recovered from the infection on Friday taking the tally of total recoveries to 89,350. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 74.3 per cent, which is approximately two per cent less than the national average of 76.28 per cent.
The state currently has 30,008 active cases.
The government tested 62,300 citizens for the virus on Friday. So far 12,66,643 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 34,117.
Of the total cases, 23,049 are under home isolation. Of those, 84 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress.
According to the state, men aged between 31 and 40 years contribute to 16.97 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 8.07 per cent of the total cases.
The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 53.87 per cent. 46.13 per cent of victims had no comorbidities.
Vacancy of beds:
The state currently has 17,728 vacant beds for COVID patients.
Around 11,534 isolation beds, 4,592 oxygen beds, and 1,602 ICU beds are lying vacant in different state hospitals.
