Telangana COVID update: 2.9K fresh cases and 1.5K recoveries reported on Wed
By Newsmeter Network Published on 28 Aug 2020 3:55 AM GMTHyderabad: Telangana reported 2,932 new COVID cases on Thursday, taking the overall tally to 1,17,415 in the state.
Eleven new deaths were reported on August 27 taking the total tally to 799. The fatality rate in the state is 0.68 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.83 per cent.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 520 new cases while Rangareddy reported 218 new cases. Several other districts reported an increase in cases, with Nalgonda reporting 159 and Khammam reporting 141 new cases.
Overall, around 1580 citizens recovered from the infection on Thursday, taking the tally of total recoveries to 87,675. The recovery rate, as per the government, now stands at 74.6 per cent, which is below the national average of 76.33 per cent.
The state currently has 28,941 active cases.
The government tested 61,863 citizens for the virus on Thursday. So far 12,04,343 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 32,439.
Of the total cases, 22,097 are under home isolation. Of those, 84 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress.
According to the state, men aged between 31 and 40 years contribute to 16.97 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 8.07 per cent of the total cases.
The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 53.87 per cent. 46.13 per cent of victims had no comorbidities.
Vacancy of beds:
The state currently has 17,817 vacant beds for COVID patients.
Around 11,542 isolation beds, 4,689 oxygen beds, and 1,586 ICU beds are lying vacant in different state hospitals.
