Telangana crosses 5000 cases in 98 days, reports 187 COVID deaths

Hyderabad : In less than 100 days, Telangana crossed 5000 COVID cases. The state, as on June 15th, recorded 5193 positive cases , this includes those cured and discharged.

Out of the 219 new COVID cases reported on Monday, 189 were from Hyderabad. Those infected include 32 medicos, 14 doctors and 18 medical staffers from Petlaburj maternity hospital in old city limits. Ranga Reddy district continue to be the worst affected after Hyderabad.

It is pertinent to mention that, the spurt in COVID cases was observed since May 16th. This comes after the government implemented a set of relaxations. The health authorities point fingers at increased public movement to be the reason behind spread of the virus.

Out of the total 5193 positive COVID cases, 2766 are cured and discharged. While 2240 are undergoing treatment at Gandhi hospital. While a few are placed under home isolation.

Meanwhile, The Telangana government has given its nod to ICMR approved private labs and authorised hospitals to conduct COVID-19 tests and treat patients in the state. However, the government has fixed a price card.

Individuals approaching private labs or hospitals will have to shell out Rs 2,200 per test. While those requesting ‘test at home’, will be charged Rs 2,800 per patient.

The government fixed prices do not include a large number of medical services provided. It is pertinent to mention that patients will have to pay extra for services not included in the package.

The government order also specified that patients who are asymptomatic or having mild symptoms do not need hospitalization and are recommended home isolation. Patients can be admitted to COVID care centers if their houses are not suitable for home isolation.
