Telangana government imposes strict night curfew, violators to be dealt strictly

This follows the reports that people have defied restrictions at a number of places in the state. People were seen moving in big numbers on several roads and junctions.
Shunning the kid-glove approach, the government has decided to impose strict curfew and act tough against people defying the lockdown.
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said strict curfew will be implemented during night hours. āThere will be 100 percent curfew all over the state. There will be relaxation during day time from 6 am till 7 pm. From 7 pm till 6 am, there will be a total lockdown. Anybody found violating the directive will be strictly dealt with under the law,ā Somesh Kumar said.
Kumar also warned foreign returnees against breaking the home quarantine protocol. Kumar said restrictions will be imposed on their passports
During the lockdown, no vehicle will be allowed on the roads. Any vehicle found on the roads will be seized with immediate effect and will not be returned until further orders.
Kumar said all borders have been closed and interstate transport has been suspended. However, he allowed farmers to carry out their activities in their fields.
DGP M Mahender Reddy said check posts will be set up at each police station level. āNo vehicle will be allowed to ply beyond two kilometers. Only one person will be allowed on a bike along with the rider. Two persons will be allowed in four-wheelers excluding the driver. Social distancing has to be followed strictly. Any violation by any individual or people will be strictly dealt with under the law,ā he said.
