Telangana irrigation official caught red-handed taking bribe, arrested

Kotahgudem: Sleuths of the Anti-corruption Bureau arrested an assistant executive engineer of the irrigation department on 6 July after he was caught red-handed demanding and accepting bribe.

The ACB laid a trap to catch the official after receiving a complaint from Gundla Ramesh of Bhadradri in Kothagudem district. According to the complaint, the irrigation official, Sriram Naveen Kumar, had demanded Rs. 1,20,000 to process the first and final bill for the restoration work of Anantharam Cheruvu. The work was carried out by Mr. Ramesh under the Telangana government project Mission Kakatiya.

The cash was recovered from Naveen Kumar and he was arrested and produced before the ACB court in Hyderabad. The police have started an investigation into the case.
