Telangana SSC exams postponed, new dates yet to be announced
By Newsmeter Network Published on 7 Jun 2020 9:08 PM ISTHyderabad: The Telangana government, on 7 June, announced its decision to postpone the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Class X exams, which was scheduled to start from 8 June, in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the government has not yet declared the new dates for the exams.
On 6 June, the Telangana High Court had directed the state government not to conduct the SSC board examinations in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts until further orders due to an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. The court had said the state can take appropriate decisions and conduct examinations by duly following standard procedures in other districts. The Telangana government has now decided to postpone SSC exams across the state.
The state education board, in an official communication, had also said that students who are unable to appear for the SSC examination due to the COVID-19 situation "will be allowed to appear for the advanced supplementary examination" to be held at a later date. The order further said, āSuch students will be considered and treated as regular candidates as a special case for this academic year only.ā
