Jaidev Chowdhary was among the first ones to take the jab at Medicover Hospitals in Hyderabad on Monday. "I was waiting for the day to be vaccinated to enjoy the quality of socially active life," said Jaidev Chowdhary.
Referring to hesitation by some people in taking the jab, he said a lot of hesitation and misinformation was being spread about the vaccine and people should come forward to take the vaccination, not for their own benefit but for their family and society. Jaidev Chowdhary is a former entrepreneur and father of Pradeep Chowdhary, Managing Director of Freedom Oils company.
Meanwhile, a total of 4,558 people from the priority groups received the first shot of the Covid-19 vaccine in Telangana on Monday.
The two priority groups-- older than 60 years, and between 45 and 59 with comorbidities --received their first shot of the Covid-19 vaccine at 93 vaccine centers and 48 government healthcare facilities.
Around 2,005 beneficiaries had turned up at government facilities, while 2,553 beneficiaries had enrolled at 45 private hospitals in the state.
The state had a target of vaccinating 6,759 beneficiaries, of whom only 67.4 percent turned out.
The drive for healthcare workers and frontline workers continued with 249 HCWs getting their first dose and 70 their second dose.
For the FLWs, Monday saw 51 getting their first shot, while another 16 got their second dose. So far, 4,48,115 people have received either the first or second dose of the Covid vaccine in the state. Around 3, 00,399 beneficiaries have received the first dose.
Due to the glitches of CoWIN portal, many of the beneficiaries were not able to register. Many hospitals later shifted to manual mode by writing the details of the beneficiary in a file and then administering the vaccine.
