2 forest officials die of COVID-19 in Adilabad district

Hyderabad: Two forest officials died of COVID-19 in Telangana's Adilabad district on 13 April.

According to sources in the forest department, the victims – a 50-year-old and a 36-year-old – are from Bheempur village. One of them was a section officer in Adilabad while the other worked as a beat officer in Neradigonda mandal in the district.

A few days ago, the two had tested positive for COVID-19 and were admitted to RIMS hospital in Adilabad for treatment. Their condition worsened while undergoing treatment and they breathed their last on Tuesday.

On Monday, Telangana reported 3,052 positive cases taking the total tally to 3,32,581 positive cases. The state's death toll reached 1,772 after it reported seven new deaths. The fatality rate in Telangana stands at 0.53 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.3 per cent.

The GHMC area reported 406 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, while neighbouring Rangareddy districted reported 248, Medchal Malkajgiri 301, and Sangareddy 123 new cases.
