30 monkeys poisoned to death in Mahabubabad
More than 30 monkeys were found dead on the outskirts of a village in Mahabubabad district of Telangana on Wednesday.

Mahabubabad: More than 30 monkeys were found dead on the outskirts of a village in Mahabubabad district of Telangana on Wednesday.
It is suspected that the monkeys were poisoned. After monkeys were killed their carcasses were packed in gunny bags and dumped at the isolated spot. A formal complaint has been lodged and an investigation has been started.
Locals noticed foul smell coming from the area and alerted police and district authorities. Later the carcasses of monkeys were found in putrefied condition.
According to reports, farmers observed foul smell when they were on way to work in the outskirts of Shanigapuram village in Mahabubabad mandal.
It may be be noted that monkey menace is rampant in Shanigapuram and surrounding villages .
Monkeys usually damage crops and disturb normal life in the area. It is suspected that the killers might have mixed some poisonous substances with fruits and fed them to the monkeys.
Forest officials also rushed to the spot and started inquiry. Based on a complaint from the forest department, a case is being registered.
