Rs 30 Cr fine collected via 3.39 L cases registered for violating facemask rule: Telangana DGP
Telangana police have registered 339412 cases for violating the facemask rule and collected Rs. 30.66 crore fine from erring people in the state.

On Monday, Telangana Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy submitted a report in the Telangana high court stating that cops have collected Rs. 30.66 crore penalty from people for not wearing facemasks.
DGP said the police have registered 98 cases against those involved in black-marketing Covid medicines. In his report, he said that 339412 cases were registered against people for not wearing face masks. He said that they registered 22,560 cases against those who did not follow social distance norms.
Also, 7,468 cases have been registered for holding large public gatherings and 56,021 for violating night curfew and lockdown. Around 12,662 cases have been registered for consumption of liquor, paan, gutka, tobacco, etc in public places.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B. Vijayasen Reddy was hearing the batch of petitions filed related to Covid in the state. CPs of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda appeared before the HC.
In his report, the DGP also said that they had taken all steps for the prevention of the Covid in the state. He said that they are taking steps to prevent black marketing of the medicines. He also said that they were taking steps for the strict implementation of the ongoing lockdown in the state. He said that they had booked a total of 4,31,823 cases from May 1 to May 14.

Cases during the lockdown (May 12 to May 15)
Within four days of lockdown, around 50,367 cases have been booked by the police in the state. Out of the total, 26,082 cases have been booked for violating night curfew/lockdown followed by 19,037 for not wearing masks in public places. Also, the police collected Rs 1.26 crore for violation facemask rule.
Police also booked around 2,990 cases for not maintaining social distance, 1,959 cases for large public gatherings and 299 for consumption of liquor, paan, gutka, tobacco, etc in public places.
