Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested an agriculture officer of Chandrugonda mandal in Bhadradri Kothagudem district for accepting a bribe of Rs. 90,000.
Narlapati Mahesh Chandra Chaterjee, the agriculture officer, had demanded money from complainant Godha Satyam, a resident of Chandrugonda village, in lieu of not inspecting the fertilizer and pesticide shops of the complainant and five others and not cause any trouble in the running of their business.
"The agriculture officer, thereby, performed his public duty improperly and dishonestly and obtained undue advantage from the complainant. The bribe amount was recovered from his possession. The agriculture officer is being arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Hyderabad," the ACB said.
