Charge Rs 1000 fine for not wearing mask: KCR to police

Hyderabad: Seemingly unnerved by the second COVID wave, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao urged the people to follow SOPs and wear masks in a bid to contain the spread of infection.

"Those people not wearing masks should be fined Rs 1000. DGP should instruct officials to enforce the mask rule stringently," he said.

The CM asked people to remain alert at crowded places like Hyderabad, Rangareddy, and Medchel districts.

The CM participated in the videoconference organized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. The CM later held a review meeting with the Medical and Health Officials on the COVID situation.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM instructed the officials to increase the testing as there is a surge in the positive cases. He said all the front-line workers should be vaccinated. The CM wanted the entire process should be completed in a week's time.

The CM also spoke to DGP M Mahender Reddy, Principal Secretary (Panchayat Raj) Sandeep Sultania, Principal Secretary (MAUD) Arvind Kumar, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar, and Principal Secretary (Transport) Sunil Sharma over the phone.

The CM instructed that the staff and employees in these departments should be vaccinated. The CM urged all those who crossed the age limit of 45 years to get vaccinated.

KCR said collectors and other district-level officers should launch a special drive for the vaccination. The CM said RTPCR tests should be conducted in large numbers in the districts. The CM instructed the officials to make RTPCR test kits available.

He instructed the medical and health officials to set up test centers in Gadwal, Wanaparthy, Khammam, Nirmal, Mancherial, Kamareddy, Sangareddy, Medak, Jagtial, Pedapalli, Ramagundam, Bhongir, Jangaon, and Vikarabad.
