Hyderabad: A con man duped Tollywood producer D. Suresh Babu under the guise of providing COVID-19 vaccine and siphoned off Rs. 1 lakh from the producer.

According to the police, in May, Suresh Babu received a call from a person who identified himself as Nagarjuna Reddy. He offered to provide COVID vaccines for large-scale vaccination drives. Hoping that it would be used for their staff, Suresh Babu agreed to the proposal.

Nagarjuna then shared his bank account details and the producer immediately transferred Rs. 1 lakh to the account that was in the name of T. Lakshmi, Nagarjuna's wife. After the money was transferred, Suresh Babu's staff tried contacting Nagarjuna but there was no response.

Despite repeated attempts to reach him, there was no response and later his phone was found switched off. Inquiries revealed that the money transferred to T. Lakshmi's account had been immediately withdrawn.

On Suresh Babu's instructions, his manager I. Rajendra Prasad lodged a complaint at the Jubilee Hills police station seeking action against Nagarjuna. The police registered a case against Nagarjuna under sections 406 and 420 of the IPC and started an investigation.
