COVID 19: Telangana reports 417 fresh COVID cases, active cases drop below 7000

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 417 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday taking the state's overall tally to 6,53,202. Two new deaths were reported on 17 August taking the death toll to 3,847.

The fatality rate in the state is 0.58 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.3 per cent. The state has 6,939 active cases.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 84 new cases, while Karimnagar reported 54 new cases. Nalgonda reported 39 new cases and Warangal Urban reported 27 new cases.

Around 569 citizens recovered from the infection on Tuesday taking the total recoveries to 6,42,416. The recovery rate, as per the government, now stands at 98.34 per cent, which is higher than the national average of 97.49 per cent.

The government tested 87,230 citizens on Tuesday. So far, 2,35,66,170 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 6,33,158. Reports for 1,109 samples are awaited. The test positivity rate (TPR) in the state stands at 0.48 per cent. Telangana has tested 49.8 per cent primary contacts and 12.1 per cent secondary contacts.

There are only 21 government RT-PCR, CBNAAT, and TRUENAT centers in the state. Around 75 private centers, too, are operating. On Tuesday, 78,812 tests were conducted at government centers and 8,418 at private centers.

Also, 79.9 per cent of patients were asymptomatic, while 20.1 percent were symptomatic.
