Hyderabad: Telangana reported 424 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday taking the state's overall tally to 6,53,626. Two new deaths were reported on 18 August taking the death toll to 3,849.
The fatality rate in the state is 0.58 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.3 per cent. The state has 6,912 active cases.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 73 new cases, while Karimnagar reported 46 new cases. Nalgonda and Warangal Urban both reported 24 new cases while Khammam and Medchal Malkajgiri reported 23 cases respectively.
Around 449 citizens recovered from the infection on Wednesday taking the total recoveries to 6,42,865. The recovery rate, as per the government, now stands at 98.35 per cent, which is higher than the national average of 97.50 per cent.
The government tested 91,350 citizens on Wednesday. So far, 2,36,57,520 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 6,35,613. Reports for 1,118 samples are awaited. The test positivity rate (TPR) in the state stands at 0.49 per cent. Telangana has tested 49.9 per cent primary contacts and 12 per cent secondary contacts.
There are only 21 government RT-PCR, CBNAAT, and TRUENAT centers in the state. Around 75 private centers, too, are operating. On Wednesday, 85,586 tests were conducted at government centers and 5,764 at private centers.
Also, 79.8 per cent of patients were asymptomatic, while 20.2 percent were symptomatic.
