Hyderabad: Telangana reported 427 new COVID-19 cases on Friday taking the state's overall tally to 6,51,715. Two new deaths were reported on 13 August taking the death toll to 3,836.
The fatality rate in the state is 0.58 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.3 per cent. The state has 7,812 active cases.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 68 new cases, while Karimnagar reported 43 new cases. Warangal Urban reported 41 new cases and Medchal Malkajgiri reported 28 new cases.
Around 609 citizens recovered from the infection on Friday taking the total recoveries to 6,40,065. The recovery rate, as per the government, now stands at 98.21 per cent, which is higher than the national average of 97.43 per cent.
Meanwhile, the state's testing rate has dropped in the last five days. Earlier, the state was testing more than 1.1 lakh samples per day. It has now dropped to 80,000-90,000. The government tested 87,509 citizens on Friday.
So far, 2,32,57,197 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 6,24,857. Reports for 1,285 samples are awaited. The test positivity rate (TPR) in the state stands at 0.48 per cent. Telangana has tested 49.8 per cent primary contacts and 12.1 per cent secondary contacts.
There are only 21 government RT-PCR, CBNAAT, and TRUENAT centers in the state. Around 75 private centers, too, are operating. On Friday, 81,012 tests were conducted at government centers and 6,497 at private centers.
Also, 79.8 per cent of patients were asymptomatic, while 20.2 percent were symptomatic.
