COVID-19 vaccine: Telangana reports 15 cases of adverse event following immunization

Around 335 sessions were conducted in the state on 18 January and 82 per cent of the target i.e. 13,666 of the 16,750 people were vaccinated.

COVID-19 vaccine: Telangana reports 15 cases of adverse event following immunization

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 15 cases of adverse event following immunization (AEFI) on 18 January, two days after the launch of the COVID-19 vaccination drive in the state.

Among the 15 is an auxiliary nurse midwife from UPHC Uppal, Naveen (29), who was admitted to Gandhi Hospital after she complained of vomiting, weakness, giddiness since the night of 16 January.

She had received the COVID-19 vaccine at Uppal on 16 January.

Doctors who are on special duty for AEFI have examined her. Her temperature, pulse, and BP are normal, oxygen saturation is 100 percent on room air (without oxygen), and her condition is stable, they said.

Meanwhile, on Monday all 33 districts in the state conducted the COVID-19 vaccination drive for health workers in the government sector. Around 335 sessions were conducted in the state on 18 January and 82 per cent of the target i.e. 13,666 of the 16,750 people were vaccinated.

The department of public health has announced that from 19 January all sites will vaccinate 100 beneficiaries per session. Since the launch of the vaccination drive in the state, around 84 per cent of the beneficiaries have received the vaccine.
