COVID vaccination: Over 69L people yet to be inoculated in Telangana

Director of Public Health G Srinivas Rao said that out of the total target population of 2,77,67,000, an estimated 69,35,349 people have not been vaccinated.
As of October 19, around 2,08,31,651 people have been administered the first dose, while 82,22,777 people have been fully vaccinated.
Ninety-eight percent of people in Hyderabad have received the first dose. Likewise, 96 percent population in Rangareddy have received the first dose.
Vikarabad with 56 percent, Jogulamba Gadwal with 57 percent, Warangal Rural with 59 percent, and Nalgonda with 59 percent population have received the first dose.
The number of people who have skipped the second dose despite completing the prescribed time interval has increased to 36.35 lakh. Only three districts have recorded over 50 percent second dose coverage. These include Medchal Malkajgiri (57 percent), Hyderabad (54 percent), and Rangareddy (51 percent).
The lowest percentage of second dose coverage is in Narayanpet, Kumaran Bheem Asifabad, Adilabad, and JogulambaĀ Gadwal.
Director of Public Health also pointed out that the time interval between first and second dose of Covishield has been reduced to 12 weeks from 14 and 18 weeks.
He said the chances of hospitalization, COVID severity, and death are low among the people who are vaccinated. He said that 60 percent of the cases reporting to hospitals are those who have not been vaccinated. Thirty percent are those who are partially vaccinated, and the remaining have taken both doses.
Director of Public Health said Covid 19 vaccine for children between 12 and 18 years is likely to be launched in two to three weeks time. He said training has been already been started in this regard.
