COVID vaccination: Telangana to launch special drive, inoculate 3 L people daily

He said since the production of COVID vaccine has increased in the country, there is a possibility that the state will get the required supply.
The CM said though the COVID situation is under control in the state, the special drive should be launched to save people from infections.
Medical and Health department officials told the CM that the COVID situation is under control despite the opening of government and private educational institutions. The officials informed the CM that there is no chance of an increase in the COVID cases.
Medical and Health officials informed the CM that 2.80 crore people above the age of 18 and are eligible for vaccination in the state. So far, 1.42 crore were administered the first dose and 53 lakh have received the second dose. Nearly 1.38 crore people are yet to receive the first dose of vaccination.
"Three lakh people should be vaccinated every day during the special drive. Gram Sarpanches, MPTCS, Ward members, Gram Secretaries, MPPs, ZPTCs, and other public representatives should actively participate. MPDOs, MPOs, DLOs, DPOs, ZP CEOs, and other staff should coordinate and extend all the support to the medical and health department," he said
The CM congratulated the Sarpanches for imposing lockdown and setting up isolation centers in the schools at the peak of the pandemic.
The CM also wanted the Sarpanches to actively participate in the vaccination drive as well.
He instructed the Chief Secretary to coordinate with the Collectors and other officials through a videoconference and review the situation from time to time. The CM said officials and other public representatives should take measures to provide food and other facilities to the vaccination staff.
The CM also instructed the officials to utilize Schools, Colleges, Rythu Vedikas, and other government and private buildings for vaccination drive.
The CM said people should realize that the sooner they take vaccination the better it would be. KCR advised the people having symptoms to visit the nearest PHCs for check-up. "People have to take precautions and wear masks," he said.
The CM instructed the medical and health officials to be on high alert for any eventuality. The CM instructed the officials to set up Oxygen plants and beds.
"The state government has so far had given top priority to Irrigation and Agriculture sectors. Henceforth, it will give priority to Medical and other allied sectors. Special attention should be paid to the construction of multi-specialty hospitals and medical colleges. Two additional towers should be constructed at the NIMS, Hyderabad," he said.
The CM wanted the government hospitals to maintain cleanliness on par with the corporate hospitals. The officials informed the CM that they are equipped to face any situation in the state.
