Hyderabad: The 12 days of Dasara vacation for schools in Telangana will start from 6 October. The state government issued a memo approving the academic calendar for 2021-2022 prepared by the school education department.

The calendar also stated that the Christmas vacation for missionary schools will be for seven days from December 22 to 28, while Sankranti holidays will be for six days from 11 January 2022.

The last working day for the academic year 2021-2022 will be 23 April 2022 with 213 being the total number of working days; 47 in virtual mode and 166 in physical mode. The summer vacation will be from 24 April to 12 June.

The memo also stated that schools must conduct health check-ups of their students with the help of local Primary Health Centres and take referral cases to nearby area hospitals. Headmasters should ensure health check-up of every student twice a year, the memo stated. If a student at the residential school is found to have fever, the principal and/or the headmaster of the school should immediately ensure the student is taken to the nearest PHC and COVID-19 tests are administrated.

"If the child is tested positive, he or she should be handed over to their parents. All students attending schools should follow precautionary measures by wearing masks and sanitizing frequently. Parents who are sending their children to educational institutions should make sure their children wear masks every day and follow COVID-19 protocols strictly," Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had said. Schools and other educational institutions in the state had reopened on 1 September.
