Hyderabad: 'Dial 181' service of Telangana government received 29 emergency calls for One-Stop-Sakhi-Center help per day last month.

This is the highest among the different categories under Dial 181 emergency.

One-Stop Sakhi Centers are intended to support women affected by violence in private and public spaces, within the family, community, and at the workplace.

Women facing physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic abuse, irrespective of age, class, caste, education status, marital status, race, and culture receive support through One-Stop Sakhi Centers

Data released by Telangana Government reveal that Dial 181 service received 1195 emergency calls in which 855 calls are related to One Stop Sakhi Center which amounts to 71.55 %.

It is followed by 290 calls (18.83 %) pertaining to police emergencies for the women. Rests of the calls were related to child marriage (70), Shelter Home (19), protection officers (18) and Medical help (8).

Of the total emergency calls, 865 (72.38%) were related to Domestic Violence, 112(9.37%) to sexual offences/harassment of women, and 34 (2.85%) to cybercrime.



Though, the total number of calls received by the Dial 181 women Helpline was around 24,592. However, around 21,536 calls got disconnected and only 1,195 get qualified for the emergencies. Of the total calls, 897 were closed, while 298 cases are still pending.


In Telangana, 40 per cent of these emergency calls come from Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, and Rangareddy.

The state's Dial 181 service was launched in August 2017, three years after Telangana state was carved out. The facility comprises 6 seat call center which operates 24X7 for 365 days. On average, 800 calls are answered per day, while 40 to 45 emergencies are attended to every day.
