Eatala says this is no time to relax in view of rising COVID cases

Hyderabad: In the wake of the rising COVID-19 cases, Health Minister Eatala Rajender held an emergency meeting with the superintendent of districts hospitals through a teleconference on Thursday where he directed officials to assist every one of the age 45 years and above in receiving the vaccine.

"This is not the time to relax. This is the time for war again," he said. He asked the superintendents to check the availability of PPE kits, Remdesivir injections, N95 masks, liquid oxygen tanks, bulk cylinders, tablets, doctors, staff, and beds at all hospitals.

He also suggested officials employ as many staff members as needed on a temporary basis. "Medical personnel working at the village level are playing a major role in preventing the spread of the virus. Examine every day for everyone with a fever in the villages," the minister said.

"Everyone in the medical department should work all days as there are orders for vaccinations to be continued even on Sundays too as per the Central government directives," said the minister. He further added the spread of COVID-19 needs to be controlled without disrupting public life. Medical officers in districts bordering other states should be vigilant, he said. He said that there is no shortage of vaccines and the number of RTPCR tests should be increased as per the target given to each district.
